People: Phil Wade

An experienced general manager and marketing director, now heavily involved in analysing problems and then developing and implementing practical solutions, in both the private and public sectors.

From university Phil joined ICI Dulux Paints where he was a marketing manager for both the Dulux Trade and Retail businesses.

Following an MBA at Cranfield School of Management, Phil became managing director of a manufacturing and contracting business, which was part of a publicly quoted group of companies and whose client base included all the UK 's major building contractors. He was subsequently managing director of a UK distribution business and was also responsible for the turnaround of a struggling business which operated in the motor industry.

In the mid nineties he joined a successful information technology (data storage) group as marketing director and was one of the team that set up Planet Online, the UK's first business to business internet service provider (ISP), which pioneered the idea of data centre website hosting in the UK. Planet achieved profitability within two years and was subsequently sold to Energis.

Phil has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and French from Bath University , an MBA from Cranfield, and is fluent in French.
